Tutoring Philosophy: Michael has nearly a decade of experience tutoring a wide array of academic subjects, including Calculus, Spanish, and Philosophy, and exams, including the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE. He has devised and taught year-long curricula for home-schooled students, and guided applicants through every stage of the US college admissions process.
As an SAT/ACT tutor, Michael takes pleasure in helping students demystify these sometimes daunting exams. This means coaching students in a set of techniques that are specifically designed to make complex questions straightforward, guiding them towards a thorough understanding of question structure, and, of course, offering a strong foundation in content. Having worked with students of all ages and backgrounds, including many neurodiverse students, he is flexible and sensitive, tailoring his approach to the individual. Michael takes a holistic view, seeking not merely to support performance on a particular test, but to help the student develop as a learner and a thinker in the broadest sense. The aim is always to foster curiousity, critical thinking, and self-sufficiency.
Michael graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Philosophy and English. While there, he also pursued studies in Mathematics, undertaking funded research in Linear Algebra with Prof. Leo Goldmakher.
